Coatesville VA Medical Center - Mental Health, Substance Abuse & PTSD Treatment
Provides consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues that can impact emotional health and well-being. Services and supporting programs offered at the Coatesville Medical Center include: Community Residential Care, Mental Health Outpatient Clinic, Inpatient Psychiatry, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder treatment, Substance Abuse Treatment Drug/Alcohol, Domiciliary Care, and a Work Restoration program. We also provide outreach to homeless veterans.The Social Work program also offers counseling to veterans with drug, alcohol, and emotional problems, to help veterans and their families understand and adjust to an illness or disability, to veterans and family members who want to prepare advance directives and durable powers of attorney for health care or finances, to help veterans and their families cope with terminal illness,and to family members about legal issues such as commitment and guardianship.

A social work program designed to help Veterans seamlessly transition from military life in the DOD to civilian life connecting them with VA healthcare. Assists post 9/11 veterans with completing health and wellness goals to ease transition back into civilian life by providing navigation assistance of the VA system and appropriate referrals to community resources.

The goal of Operation REACH (Relief for Emergency Assistance through Community Help) is to assist veterans who are struggling with substance abuse and/ or co-occurring mental health needs get the help that they need.
This initiative will focus on the comprehensive needs of the veteran and delivering services through a holistic approach.
Operation REACH will strive to provide intervention support services through a targeted case management model. Veterans and their families will benefit from targeted case management through assistance in coordination with basic necessities.
Unlike many programs, characterization of discharge will not serve as eligibility criteria for Operation REACH.

    • Very lowoincome: Gross household income must not exceed 50% of the median income guidelines
    • Must be homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless (must have a formal eviction notice)
    • Must have at least one day active duty to qualify for SSVF funding
    • Photo ID, copy of DDo214 or VA medical card, proof of income, social security cards and birth certificates for all family members to be served, any lease/rental statement, past due notices, utility bills

    Promotes housing stability.
    Provide outreach service, case management services, assistance in obtaining VA benefits, and assistance in obtaining and coordinating other public, and mainstream benefits.

    Temporary financial assistance may also be available.
