Pregnant Mother

211 Helps with All Your Needs

A 25-year-old woman texted PA 211 after she had lost her job because of the pandemic. She had no idea when her employer would reopen. At home, she had a two year-old child, and she was pregnant. She was reaching out for help to pay her electric bill.

PA 211 was able to inform her that her electric would not be shut off at the moment, due to a special government order, but our resource specialist supported her as she worked to keep up on the payments. We provided her with agencies to help her pay the electric, but then we were able to support her further, by asking her if she had enough food for her family. She did not. Since her children were not of school age, she was not aware that she was eligible for the school food program, and we also provided her additional food resources.

With one text to PA 211, all her needs were addressed, her stress was reduced, and more importantly, her family was fed and taken care of.
