Marlene’s 24-year-old son, who had a history of substance use disorder, had been released from a rehabilitation center the week before. Marlene could see that he had relapsed again. Not knowing what to do, she called 211.
Our Resource Navigator listened to Marlene’s situation, and asked if her son wanted help, which she did not believe was the case. Since he didn’t have insurance, Marlene got details on the steps he would need to take if he wanted to get treatment in the future. Our 211 Resource Navigator then asked Marlene how she was doing, and if she needed any support. Since she was feeling upset and overwhelmed, she was given referrals to local organizations and support groups for the families of people with a substance use disorder.
“No one ever thought to ask about me, how I’m doing through all this. Thank you so much.” – Marlene, Northeastern PA
