“Now my kids have the school supplies they need.”

Carla’s daughters are both in high school this year: they’re excited to be returning to class, and what everyone hopes will be a normal year. The kids know that Carla’s funds are limited, but they’ve both grown. Nothing fits anymore, and after spending 2020 in sweatpants, it’s time for back-to-school shopping.

The school had posted suggested school supply lists, and Carla was horrified when she went online and saw the prices for even “basic” bundles for high schoolers. Thankfully, she heard about Stuff the Bus, a program for families in Greene County who are struggling to purchase back-to-school supplies. Greene County United Way involves the whole community in collecting and distributing backpacks filled with the supplies kids need for school.

Carla called PA 211 to register her kids a few weeks before the pick-up event. They each received a backpack with enough pens, paper, folders, and other grade-appropriate materials to last for a long time. Carla was thrilled, because her kids can return to school feeling confident and prepared.
