Pittsburgh - Family Based Mental Health Services (FBMH)
Provides intensive, in-home services for children and adolescents and their families experiencing significant emotional or behavioral issues. Helps caregivers support their children in their homes and prevent out-of-home placement.

Eligibility: Must be age 18 or younger (may be up to 21 if still in school), a resident of Allegheny or Washington county, and meet additional criteria. See below or visit the website for details.

Fee Amounts: Services provided free of charge.
Intake Procedure: Call to schedule an intake appointment.
Intake Requirements: Must have a mental health diagnosis and services must be prescribed by psychiatrist or psychologist.


At least one caregiver must commit to participate in the service; family must be available for at least 2-3 sessions per week.


Must be at risk of needing treatment in a psychiatric hospital, a residential, treatment facility, or other type of out-of-home setting, be stepping down from those levels of care, or have little or no progress in less restrictive services.
