Provides affordable housing. The Housing Authority's HCV/S8V currently serves 368 families in Franklin County.

Eligibility: A) The family's preliminary eligibility is determined upon receipt of the completed application and after a criminal history and a prior subsidized housing check have been done
B) All families must meet current income eligibility requirements set by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). The Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act (QHWRA) of 1998 authorizes our Section 8 program to admit only families whose incomes do not exceed the very low-income limit (50% of area median income) once it has met the annual 75% targeting income requirement of extremely low-income families (those whose incomes do not exceed 30% of median income).
C) Income must be at or below the very low-income guidelines of the median household income for Franklin County. Most current guidelines can be found via the website below: Select "Click Here for FY ____ MFI Documentation," Go through the prompts.

Fee Amounts: Fees vary. Rent is based on income. Tenants are responsible for security deposit. Based on Very Low-Income Limit Level.
Intake Procedure: One can only apply when the HCV/S8V waiting list is open. Applications for the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program can be filled out on line or may be picked up at any of our office locations.

Helpful Tips: The Housing Choice also has an office located at 202 Elder Avenue, Waynesboro. 318 Vouchers, 62 Mainstream Vouchers, 5 Veteran's Assistance Supportive Housing (VASH) Vouchers, 7 Bridge Rental Assistance Subsidy Vouchers. However, no one can apply until the waiting list is declared open.
