Counseling is a confidential professional relationship in which an individual is seeking help with a life concern, such as anxiety, depression, or unresolved conflict within a family or with a significant other. The role of the counselor is to create a safe place to begin to help the client identify, express and begin to lessen the pain of their concern though a variety of strategies. The client and the counselor are continually monitoring progress to achieve the agreed upon goals.

Marriage counseling is focused on the couple's relationship and only the two partners are in the session. Focus is on healthy communication, trust issues, parenting, emotional regulation, and helping each partner give and receive love.
