Matches adults or children with intellectual and/or developmental disability with a family/individual in the community to live together as a family unit, or in some cases companions. In addition to providing a home, the host family or companion (which are called providers), actively participates in supporting the person in cultivating self-care, social skills, and communication skills. The providers are also responsible for health and safety needs.
