Our Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Bryn Mawr Hospital is an acute care facility offering private psychiatric treatment in a secure, comfortable setting. Patients with a wide variety of psychiatric disorders are treated by a multidisciplinary treatment team. Our staff is trained to assess and treat most acute psychiatric illnesses, with the goal of helping the individual return to normal functioning and reclaim his or her life in the community. Patients who are abusing alcohol or other drugs in addition to having a psychiatric disorder can participate in our Dual-Diagnosis Treatment Program.

The Dual Diagnosis Program is designed for those who suffer from a psychiatric disorder and an addiction. The length of stay for the dual program is based on the individual needs of the patient.

Institutional and Patient Advocacy monitors the treatment, services, discharge planning and benefit information (such as Social Security and Medicaid) provided to inpatients by Norristown State Hospital. Advocates work on the patients' behalf or refer patients' to attorneys or outside agencies that specialize in mental health advocacy and/or law. Advocates also work with the offices of mental health in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties to make sure that appropriate housing and programs are available to meet the needs of patients once they leave the state hospital. The service works to identify and resolve problems in the mental health system through public policy initiatives.

Provides crisis intervention, comprehensive assessment, short-term intensive psychiatric treatment, medical assessment, and discharge planning services to individuals and their family members.

You will live in the community. Our homes include single homes and duplexes located in Northeast Philadelphia. You will share a home with two other individuals. You will meet with staff to identify new skills that you would like to develop so you can live more independently. You will work together with staff to develop these skills. The Transitional Care Center for Mental Health is a long term structured residence which resulted from a collaborative effort between the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Butler, Butler County MH/MR/D&A Program, and the Irene Stacy Community Mental Health Center, along with support from Armstrong County and Value Behavioral Health.

Provides a 7-bed residential psychiatric treatment to adults with serious and persistent mental illness. Offers a Transitional Living Program for residents who move to more indepentant living off campus.
