The Registered Nurse attempts to build a therapeutic alliance with the patient in an effort to provide emotional support and psycho-education. The Psychiatric Aide and Nurse participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan of the patient. The Registered Nurse develops a plan of staff interventions to support the patient in achieving goals of the patient's treatment.

Specific services offered with the department include relationship building, health education, medication education, symptom management, grooming/hygiene promotion and support, all within the framework of the recovery model.

Clients are invited to join daily recreational activities.
Eligibility: Erie County resident 18 years and older; diagnosed with a serious mental
illness; history of multiple psychiatric hospitalizations or a recent
inpatient placement with an unsatisfactory outcome. Other requirements

Residential Services - Gage House Dual Diagnosis
A structured, 24-hour residential program that provides rehabilitation and habilitation services to individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Services are individually tailored to meet the client's needs. Treatment includes individual and group therapy, psychiatric services, and medication management by mental health and drug/alcohol professionals. Length of stay is individualized to client need and may very from 21-90 days.
Eligibility: Individuals who are 18 years and older and diagnosed with substance use
disorder and serious mental illness.

Adolescent Partial Hospital Services ImPACT provides an intensive psychiatric day treatment program for socially or emotionally impaired adolescents who are exeriencing difficulties in school and at home. The Program also provides an outpatient alternative to impatient hospitalization, or may serve as a transition program following impatient hospitalization. Treatment services include individual and group therapy, medication and monitoring and family consultation. An educational component is provided in cooperation with the Chester County Intermediate Unit. ImPACT also provides a therapeutic/recreational summer program for socially or emotionally impaired adolescents.

Older adult inpatient treatment is a 10-bed, specialized inpatient unit designed to meet the unique needs of persons over the age of 60. It offers a safe and specialized service that includes daily appointments with the Psychiatrist, structured programming, and 24 hour per day Registered Nursing observation and care. Our inpatient unit provides intensive medical-psychiatric treatment and medication stabilization in a safe environment. Inpatient treatment is often the best option for older adults suffering from severe anxiety, depression, agitation, paranoia, fearfulness or hallucinations.
