Lifesharing
Provides individuals with intellectual disabilities with the opportunity to reside in the private homes of host families.

Host families treat the individuals with whom they share their homes are members of the family, even though they are not usually related. They provide food, shelter, personal care, transportation, and comprehensive supports to one or two individuals.

In exchange for this service, the host family receives: a tax-free stipend, ongoing training, assistance with problem-solving, resources, respite care, and regular visits for support.

Allegheny County residents age 18 and older who have:
  • A primary diagnosis of intellectual/developmental disabilities and
    • An open case with the Allegheny County Office of Developmental Supports.
