Provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and their children including:
- Emergency shelter
- 24-hour telephone hotline
- Crisis-oriented counseling, both on-site and off-site (by request to victims in rural Lancaster County)
- Individual and group counseling for victims
- A free, limited, on-site health clinic operated by a licensed Nurse Practitioner (available to residents and their dependent children)
- Domestic Violence Legal Clinic (DVLC), located at 35 East Orange Street Lancaster, which provides legal assistance to victims of domestic violence
- Bridge Housing Program, a 10 apartment transitional facility for former shelter residents, providing additional housing for up to 12 months.
- Community Education: Presentations and training in the area of domestic violence are provided to agencies, schools, business, church and civic groups. Topics covered include: domestic violence, dating violence, healthy relationships, self esteem and workplace violence
- Support groups: For victims who have experienced abuse (physical, emotional, mental) in an intimate relationship. Victims have an opportunity to share their stories and learn from each other in a supportive and confidential environment.
- Volunteers: Hold an extensive 40-hour volunteer training program for persons wishing to assist the shelter in its work with victims of domestic violence.
Staff and volunteers provides presentations on domestic violence to the general public; elementary, junior and senior high school programs; and offers community training to social services agencies.
