In addition, the children participate in physical education and music programs. Outside activities include riding toys, climbing equipment and a sandbox.
A typical day for a child at the Preschool includes:
    - A free association and socialization time when children may choose their own activity such as painting , stringing beads, or a group activity in which several children may form a play group in the housekeeping corner or a cooperative block building project.
    - A teacher-guided table time will follow which includes cutting, pasting, finger painting, science experiments, practice with shapes, colors and the alphabet or various art media that correlates to the theme of the day.
    - A clean-up time follows the activity in which all of the children help to put things away. The teacher takes the class to the bathroom before preparing for snack time. Good health habits and manners are reinforced as the children have water and a wholesome snack.
    - A quiet time is necessary relaxing time when each child rests while listening to music or enjoying a book.
    - At some point during each session, the teacher calls the children to a circle. This is a listening and sharing experience of music, books, fingerplays, song, science or social studies guided by the teacher.
    - Outdoor play is an invigorating time of great physical activity. Weather permitting, the children can ride bicycles or play on the climbing equipment or sandbox.

Pre-K Counts classrooms are designed for children between age 3 and until they are eligible to enter kindergarten, who are at risk of school failure, either because of income level, language barriers, cultural, or special needs issues. Like other Lifesteps preschool classes, Pre-K Counts classrooms have small class sizes (20 or fewer children), have teachers with expertise in teaching young children, a structured curriculum aligned with the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards, and regular assessment of each childs progress and the quality of the program. The program prepares children for reading and math through a structured curriculum, but also teaches children to pay attention, follow directions, and get along with others. This program is FREE to eligible children. Full and half day options are available.
