Luzerne County Head Start, Inc. is a federal and state funded early childhood education program that focuses on promoting the school readiness of eligible children ages 3 to 5 through family involvement, health and nutrition, education and family social services. A particular emphasis is placed on reaching disparate populations. Promotes the American Heart Asssociation CPR Anytime kit through presentations in community settings or worksites. Promotes and/or hosts online continuing education webinars for healthcare professionals. Provides educational programs on the Food Guide pyramid, BMI (body mass index), Food label reading, and the importance of exercise. Promotes and provides workplace wellness programs that encourage environmental and systems changes that reduce cardiovascular risks.

Back To School Immunization Clinics: Provides vaccines at little or no cost for children through 18 years of age who are Medicaid eligible, uninsured, underinsured, or American Indian or Alaska Native.
