    • Personal Care Service Provides personal grooming help - bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting and transferring.
    • Respite CareProgram designed to provide relief to the primary caregiver. Eligibility and hours will be determined in the assessment process.
    • Chore Service Minor home repair may be possible when safety and necessary upkeep is required.
    • Lifeline Alert Services Personal response system to help people live independently. 24 hour monitoring.
    • Protective Services Reports of abuse can be made by calling 717-334-9296 or 800-548-3240 24 hours a day.

Homemaker and non-medical personal care service provide a staff person to perform light housekeeping duties, run errands, and grocery shop. A staff person will also be provided for non-medical care needs such as a bathing and showering, shaving, oral hygiene, etc. No total lifts may be performed. An average client will receive about 4 hours of service a month. In order to receive these services, you must be between the ages of 18-59 and income eligible.

Trips are offered once a week on different days alternating between the Pottsville and Tamaqua locations. Seating is limited on the vans and we take reservations for the trips on a first come, first serve basis. All transportation for the trips is free and staffing is provided for any assistance that is needed.     Kennett Area Senior Center - Errand Running/ Shopping Assistance
    The Senior Center has two programs for those who are homebound, temporarily or permanently, or who live alone.The Reassurance Program offers friendship and companionship to individuals who are homebound due to an illness or disability and/or nursing homebound individuals. Some of these individuals may just need somebody to talk to or to feel that someone else cares about them. The program is managed by the Kennett Area Senior Center Member Services Coordinator, who works with senior volunteers who make phone calls, visits and reach out to those in need of this service. The Neighbors in Action is a program run by volunteers to provide home support services to low income seniors in Chester County. The Chester County Department of Aging Services and the Kennett Area Senior Center joined forces to provide needed services like home maintenance, home repairs and transportation.

    Luzerne County Councilman Matthew Vough with the help of volunteers are providing free shopping assistance for senior citizens of Luzerne County during the COVID-19 crisis. Shopping service is offered to seniors who are homebound or who are afraid to leave their home or should not leave their home to avoid Covid-19 exposure. Volunteers will shop for needed basic food essentials, including meat they can freeze as well as cleaning supplies and toiletries. Residents text a list of items they need. Volunteers call them when they are leaving the store and provide the dollar amount so both the groceries and payment can be left at the front door without human contact.

    Through the Training and Supportive Service program, we offer transportation to medical appointments and essential community resources. This is a door-to-door service insuring the visually impaired person reaches their destination and returns home safely. If necessary, the driver will escort the client to their appointment and help them read and complete any necessary forms. In addition, we provide transportation to our low vision and diabetic support groups that are held quarterly. Our support services encompass a variety of activities from organizing shopping lists and household items to reading mail and assisting the client to pay bills. We may refer clients to other agencies that can provide them with additional needed services. We help our clients adjust to vision loss by helping them with everyday tasks; such as, organizing paperwork, putting a white plate on a dark colored place mat or organizing their canned goods if they cannot read the labels, adjusting task lighting. Our quarterly meetings are open to the public and inform the participants of ways to understand, compensate for and adjust to their vision loss and help them maintain their independence.

Case Management Services: The Case Management Services of VNA offer assistance in establishing a definitive Home Care Plan as well as coordination of necessary services.
