Assessment of need is done through our office and we work with volunteers and subcontractors to deliver appropriate service.

  • Home Delivered Meals A meal is provided to functionally disabled, home-bound or convalescent people age 60+.
    • Personal Care Service Provides personal grooming help - bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting and transferring.
    • Respite CareProgram designed to provide relief to the primary caregiver. Eligibility and hours will be determined in the assessment process.
    • Chore Service Minor home repair may be possible when safety and necessary upkeep is required.
    • Lifeline Alert Services Personal response system to help people live independently. 24 hour monitoring.
    • Protective Services Reports of abuse can be made by calling 717-334-9296 or 800-548-3240 24 hours a day.

    Seating is limited on the vans and we take reservations for the trips on a first come, first serve basis. All transportation for the trips is free and staffing is provided for any assistance that is needed.

    Options Services: Options is a general term which describes in-home services to enhance community supports so older persons can remain at home. Some individuals may need to pay for a portion of Options services, cost sharing is determined on a sliding fee scale. The PDA Over 60 Waiver Program provides long-term supportive services to qualified older persons who wish to remain in their home with supports. Qualified individuals must be 60 years of age or older, require a nursing facility level of care, and meet financial eligibility criteria. Services that may be available include personal care, transportation, environmental modification, counseling, home health services, companion services and financial management.The Nursing Home Transition program provides services to those presently living in a nursing home who wish to return to the community.     The Senior Center has two programs for those who are homebound, temporarily or permanently, or who live alone.The Reassurance Program offers friendship and companionship to individuals who are homebound due to an illness or disability and/or nursing homebound individuals. Some of these individuals may just need somebody to talk to or to feel that someone else cares about them. The program is managed by the Kennett Area Senior Center Member Services Coordinator, who works with senior volunteers who make phone calls, visits and reach out to those in need of this service. The Neighbors in Action is a program run by volunteers to provide home support services to low income seniors in Chester County. The Chester County Department of Aging Services and the Kennett Area Senior Center joined forces to provide needed services like home maintenance, home repairs and transportation.

    Respite Services - Trusted Support and a Break: Respite Services offer Care for the Caregiver by providing a much needed break to enjoy family activities, pursue personal interests, relax for awhile or attend to family errands and personal responsibilities. Through this service, Certified Home Care Aides may provide personal care, homemaker services or companion services. Respite services affirm and encourage the primary caregivers and help them return to care giving with confidence, knowledge and a new energy.

    Companion Services - Avoid Isolation: For those who live alone and are homebound, the Companion Services of VNA offer important personal contact, socialization, and activity during the day with their certified home care aides.

    Case Management Services: The Case Management Services of VNA offer assistance in establishing a definitive Home Care Plan as well as coordination of necessary services. This service offers peace of mind for those who are responsible for the care of a loved one.

    Senior Health Specialist Program: Registered Nurses provide Health Specialist services to community based programs for seniors. Services include health check-ups, health screenings such as blood pressure screening and health counseling, specific disease management education, nutrition teaching, and medication review. The program includes valuable communication with the senior’s family.

    VNA caregivers are supervised and trained by registered nurses. They are employees of the VNA. All necessary employment taxes and insurances are covered by the agency. Each Home Care Aide is screened for drugs, alcohol, and background criminal activity. Prior work references are contacted and screened before applicants are hired.
