The Workforce Literacy Program is a one-on-one literacy tutoring program. Available to those Adult Basic Education ABE, GED or ESL students needing additional educational support or flexible scheduling. This program also serves those needing preparation for specific advancement examinations, such as Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL. The program provides an alternative to traditional classroom instruction.

Blueprint themes, Blueprint author studies, center applications, and skill cards build children's content knowledge and develop literacy skills through engaging, rich, and meaningful learning.

Provides all children living in Clinton County a free, new, age-appropriate, book every month for the first five years of life in support of language and pre-literacy skills to help build a foundation for success in school, work and life.

Operates a Choice Food Pantry. Offers clothes, toys, school supplies, and other basic needs. Provides Information and Referral by directing clients to available agencies and resources for assistance according to the need. Offers Life Skills Training and emergency assistance. Accepts donations.

Also provides a recovery support center with community based self help programming for substance abuse disorder. Recovery Cafe provides a safe sober place to socialize.

Program provides summer learning literacy kits to children enrolled in PA Pre-K Counts classrooms. Kits aim to help PA Pre-K students from suffering the effects of summer slide during this important time in their development students are given learning materials to help reinforce the skills that they learned throughout the year and continue active learning during the summer.

An intensive year round program to assist ESL parents in gaining literacy and parenting skills to become full partners in their children's education, as they are their child's first teachers.

Provides learning opportunities through the contributions of schools, community settings, science centers and museums delivering Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) knowledge to youth. The primary focus is to help students who need a jump start in reading and math. Students are provided project based activities with an emphasis on STEM and complete 6 career projects in real-life educational experiences.

Family Literacy
Reading With Your Children Workshops engage families in literacy-related activities. The workshops create positive family interactions to facilitate a child's reading experience in which they can engage with their caregivers in a variety of meaningful, yet simple, experiences centered around books. The program encourages families to create happy reading experiences for their children and a solid foundation for learning. Workshops are focused around texts and literacy activities for an audience of children age five and under. Parents are taught “how to” make reading a fun routine in their homes by using simple materials and engaging texts.



The Process
YCLC students are notified of upcoming workshops and are encouraged to register for the training. Families with young children are invited to attend. The goals of the workshops are to educate families on the benefits of reading aloud to their children and to promote enthusiasm about reading.
