Seeds of Hope is an Intensive Outpatient Program specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. Our staff consists of Licensed Professional Counselors and Nutritionists and Dietitians who specialize in the treatment of eating disorders. Clients are supported four times a week by using a multimodal approach consisting of Process Group Therapy, Family Therapy and Educational Nutrition Counseling. These groups reduce isolation and secrecy, help identify and express feelings, and develop more effective ways of coping. A therapeutic meal is included which our clients make at home and eat together with our staff. Our groups maintain a small census to ensure optimum therapeutic support. Psychiatric services are provided to evaluate the benefits or need for medication management. Clients who already have a psychiatrist are welcome to a second opinion if they should choose to do so.Clients typically attend 18-24 group sessions over the course of 4-6 weeks. Our team of nutrition educators focuses on teaching the importance of good nutrition and physical activity, introducing children to fresh, nutritious food, connecting students and teachers to area farms, and educating parents about developing healthy eating habits at home. Horsemanship is designed to teach kids about horsemanship and riding with the emphasis on horsemanship. A free program for expectant mothers and families with infants and toddlers ages birth to 36 months who live in Northumberland County. Families enrolled in the home-based program participate in weekly home visits where information is provided for educational and developmental growth. To encourage social interaction, families are invited to attend the center twice a month where fun activities and a healthy snack are provided. Infants and toddlers in the program receive several health screenings within the first 45 days of enrollment, including vision, hearing and developmental screenings. Participantsâ medical and dental visits are tracked by a licensed practical nurse (LPN) on staff. Expectant mothers are visited weekly in the home where lessons are provided on health, nutrition and child development topics. Each trimester during pregnancy, an LPN visits and discusses any concerns the pregnant mother may have. At birth, the baby then becomes enrolled in the Early Head Start program.
