WOAR offers internships to graduate students in Psychology or Social Work programs.

A graduate intern will receive extensive training on sexual assault, treatment issues, working with children, working with adults, and responding to crisis situations. This training occurs in September and is required.

The responsibilities of an intern are to:
-Provide individual counseling to adults and children who have been sexually assaulted
-Co-facilitate support groups
-Answer the hotline and provide medical accompaniment
-Complete all necessary paperwork

All interns are given individual weekly supervision by the Director of Counseling Services.

Provides comprehensive services to children and adults who have experienced sexual violence. Direct services to victim-survivors and significant others include:
* Individual counseling and client advocacy
* 24 hour rape crisis hotline
* Accompaniment to hospital, police and court proceedings
* Support group counseling on an as needed/requested
* Information and referral to appropriate resources
* Primary prevention programs, presentations and workshops available to the community, school and other professional organizations
* Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training offered for any agency that interacts with children on a daily basis ie: school districts, faith based organizations, after school programs, etc.

The sexual assault center provides a Volunteer Advocate Training for individuals interested in becoming hotline or medical advocates and volunteers. The 40 hour mandatory training provides a general overview about the long-lasting effects of sexual violence, and identifies various agencies that can assist victims survivors and their families. Volunteer advocates learn how to give appropriate referrals to hotline callers, as well as gain a sound knowledge of medical, legal and social service systems. Volunteer trainings are held at least twice a year in the fall and spring.
