Provides assistance with senior benefit programs, Medicare & Supplementary programs, eligibility for low-income senior programs including home and community services, along with: home-delivered meals, prescription drug programs, health & Wellness programs, person-centered counseling, case management, senior activities, support groups and volunteering opportunities.

Provides transportation for seniors and those with disabilities to medical and other wellness appointments throughout the Wyoming Valley. Wheelchair-accessible vans provide point-to-point transportation.

Provides education and training to the community about domestic violence. Works to build relationships with community service providers through presentations, distribution of educational materials, and training to health care professionals, law enforcement, business associations, corporations, social service providers, schools, religious congregations, and more.

Also provides volunteer opportunities to participate in program delivery.

Operates a thrift store. Proceeds help fund domestic violence programs. Educates the community about domestic abuse and the services Laurel House provides.

Laurel House clients, along with their children, have access to donated items at no cost through a voucher program.

Provides volunteer opportunities for individuals age 55 and older to mentor and tutor disadvantaged or disabled youth in a classroom setting, such as daycare centers, Head Start centers, and schools.

Offers extensive training in several specific areas of service and provides with meaningful ways to help abused persons and raise awareness about domestic abuse. Volunteer opportunities range from legal services, counseling services, the safe house, outreach and education, at the main office, and at the thrift shop.

Offers APPRISE Medicare Counseling and Ombudsman volunteer opportunities.

Acts as an advocate in accordance with PA Juvenile Act (title 42 Act PA C.S. sec. 6301 et.seq.), for children who come to the attention of the court primarily as a result of abuse and/or neglect.

Supports and promotes the interests of the blind and the prevention of blindness through a wide range of services, including: * Vocational Services
* Rehabilitation and Social Services teach vision impaired persons and their family's techniques and use of adaptive equipment to promote independence
* Glaucoma screenings, Kid Sight screenings
* Referrals to local ophthalmologists for diagnosis and treatment, eye examinations and refractions for low income individuals without medical insurance
* Assistance for the purchase of single lens eyeglasses for low-income individuals
* Braille Transcription
* Sight Loss Support Groups

Hospice and palliative care are available for adults, teens and children with any serious illness.

Recruits, screens, trains, and supervises volunteer advocates who are then appointed by the Juvenile Judge to advocate for the best interests of abused and/or neglected children. Offers services that may include: Advocating for abused and/or neglected children involved in dependency court proceedings; Independently investigating facts of the case for the court; Making recommendations to the court based on case facts and information gathered; Monitors court orders to ensure services are provided to and utilized by the child and family; Attending all meetings and court proceedings.
