Donated eyeglasses are recycled and distributed around the world. Eyeglass donation boxes can be found at many stores and eye doctor's offices. Lions Eye Health Program is a public awareness program to promote early detection and treatment of glaucoma and diabetic eye disease and appropriate treatment for low vision. Local Lions Clubs may sponsor various programs, such as assistance for the purchase of eyeglasses, hearing aids or other health-related services, as well as providing scholarships or other educational needs.

District 14-C has a number of worthy projects intended to provide support to the many in need. Each District Governor selects those projects importent to them. This year's District Projects include: District 14-C Pre-School Vision Screening Project: This project is just now getting underway and is intended to provide three cameras for clubs in each of our Counties (Adams, Cumberland and York) to share in providing screening for pre-school aged children by using a special camera. The team will generate training for Lions in the use of the camera. The project now has an e-mail address kidsight14-c@comcast.net which can be accessed for information. Other service projects include: PA Lions Hearing Research Foundation: Funds assist in improving hearing possibilities. PA Lions Sight Conservation and Eye Research Foundation: The Foundation Mission is to raise funds for eye and diabetic research projects and equipment for clinical procedures. Diabetes Awareness: Speakers provide insight to diabetes care and prevention. Used Eye Glasses: The District on average collects over 30,000 pair of glasses per year that are then provided to third world countries. Used Hearing Aids: These aids are prepared for reuse where possible. Used Electronic Items (Cell Phones, etc.): Funds from these collections are then used to support various Lions projects.
