Designed to help Adult English language students read, write, understand and participate in an English language-based setting. Offers classes for Beginning and Intermediate Students. Classes meet at the YWCA Mansion in Greensburg.
The classes focus on English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills as well as grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Students also learn about American culture and holidays. Students are from many different countries and cultures and the teacher creates a respectful and friendly classroom.

For Advanced English Language Learners, one-to-one tutoring: Conversation Partners and Student-directed Learning is offered.

The Adult Basic Literacy program is designed to help adults improve their reading and writing skills. Students are paired up with a tutor for up to 3 hours of instructional time per week. GED Prep: Tutoring is provided to help prepare students to take the Language Arts portion of the GED. There is no fee to participate.

The 21st Century Cohort 11 out-of-school time program will provide academic enrichment opportunities to students in grades 1st to 5th from Benjamin Franklin & Lafayette Schools in the Uniontown Area School District. The students from these schools attend programming at the East End United Community Center on Monday through Thursday from 3 pm to 5:30 pm. The other site is at the Waynesburg Central Elementary School grades 1st to 5th from the Central Greene School District. Students attend this program Monday through Thursday from 3:15 pm to 5:45 pm. Both programs follow the school district schedule based on delays, holidays, in-services, etc. There will also be a five-week summer school program that starts in mid-June and ends in late July that will run from 9 am to 1 pm. Finally, both programs receive free dinners through the Child and Adult Food Care Program and Summer Food Service Program.

Services operate Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except on STEP-observed holidays and are available to anyone living in or visiting Lycoming and Clinton counties. Transportation is available to travel anywhere within the service area consisting of the following counties: Lycoming, Clinton, Centre, Union, Northumberland, Columbia, Snyder, and Montour. Transportation fares per one-way trip are based on ride sponsorships and a zone-based, miles-driven fare structure. Refer to the fares and sponsorship information for more information. Consumers must reserve their ride before noon of the preceding business day. Some consumers may be eligible for enrollment in transportation sponsoring programs, which make fares reasonable.

Operates an alcohol-free and nicotine-free recreation space. Includes a roller skating rink, space for various indoor sports, holiday parties, movie nights, a Boredom Busters summer program, and other scheduled events. Space available to rent.

Each Thursday after work, about 50 of the clients from our day program gather in one of two groups for fun and learning. The groups are led by a team of volunteers. Some of our volunteers are Handi-Crafters' staff who put on different hats for the afternoon, while others are from the community at-large. Each group has five or six "helpers" as they work through the afternoon's activities. These activities include musical sing alongs; exercising to "Chicken Fat", discovering their artistic talents, playing BINGO and many others. Special events are planned around the holidays.

Richard M. Nixon Park, located in Springfield Township, features a 14,000-square-foot Nature Center. Nestled on 187 acres of meadow, wetland,woodland and aquatic habitats Nixon Park supports a wide variety of plant and animal life.

Hiking Trails: There are over six miles of trails. Bikes, horses and pets are not allowed on the trails.

• Nature Center: Full-time Naturalists staff the center and offer guided nature walks and programs to pre-scheduled groups. A comprehensive information and referral program. The primary service is assessment of caller needs, followed by sharing of information about and referrals to appropriate resources that will address client needs, questions and concerns. The 3rd and Spruce Recreation Center provides safe and fun recreation activities to City youth all year long. During the school year, the recreation center is open every day from 3:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and in the summer hosts a playground program daily from 12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The center has a full-size gymnasium, a game room, homework room, and cafeteria. During the year, daily activities include arts and crafts, board games, sports activities, tutoring, career development workshops and clubs. Some of the most popular clubs include Art Club, Dance Club, and Girls Club which bring together teenage girls to discuss issues that are most affecting them.

Many special events are hosted at 3rd and Spruce for City youth. Our most popular are the holiday dances which bring together kids from 3rd and Spruce and the 11th and Pike Rec Centers to dance, eat, and have a blast hanging out with their friends. Other events in 2012 included a basketball workshop, Career nights, and Rec Idol.

From Thanksgiving break to Columbus Day, Riverbend takes the pressure off parents to engage their kids during the various school holidays. Our year-round exploration camp offers a relaxed combination of hikes, stories, crafts, science experiments, hands-on activities and free exploration. Flexible and low-key, our program meets the needs of busy parents while providing kids the perfect place for holiday fun.

Service for underprivileged children. Bags are filled with enough food for 6 meals, and 2 snacks. Bags are distributed to children on Fridays or the last day before school holidays in non-descript bags to not draw attention. Students can qualify for the program based on federal income eligibility guidelines.

Weekday congregate meals, fitness classes, walking club, guest speakers, health screens, craft classes, bingo, cards, pool, puzzles, birthday and holiday celebrations, and volunteer opportunities.

Raises awareness of breast cancer while raising funds to provide support for local patients and their families. Services include comfort gift bags to anyone diagnosed with breast cancer; gift cards for meals after surgery; grants to help with medical, travel, and living expenses; house cleaning for stage 4 members; health lifestyle programs; holiday presents; online peer to peer support; and college scholarships for children affected.

Offers students a weekly supplement to take home for each weekend.
