Blood Services: As blood drives are cancelled due to coronavirus concerns, the American Red Cross strongly urges healthy individuals to give blood to help patients in need. Through March 19, about 3,300 PA drives have been cancelled resulting in 9,300 fewer blood donations in PA
- We understand why people may be hesitant to come out for a blood drive, but want to reassure the public that we are taking additional precautions to ensure the safety of our donors and staff:
- We are checking the temperature of staff and donors before entering a drive to make sure they are healthy.
- We have hand sanitizer for use before entering the drive, as well as throughout the donation process.
- We are spacing beds, where possible, to follow social distancing practices between blood donors

Provides long term assistance, including but not limited to airport pick-up, referrals to human services benefits, set-up of medical appointments, paperwork, ESL class referrals, peer group guidance and transportation issues. Helps clients find work, navigate American workforce expectations and gain skills. We work with you to evaluate your job skills, interests and past work experience in order to identify areas of opportunity that might be a good match for you. Our employment counselors have built relationships with local employers that hire newcomers. We’ll provide translators if necessary, transportation to interviews, resume assistance and more. Some refugees may be connected to the JFCS Career Development Center for further training. We provide a number of pre- and post-employment support services to help ensure your success in the workplace.

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) provides seniors who are nutritionally at risk, resources in the form of fresh, nutritious unprepared foods (such as fruits and vegetables) grown in the State of Pennsylvania from approved farmers’ markets.

Share Food Program
Montgomery County
Provides a set of vouchers ($24 value) for seniors to use at participating farmers markets June 1 through November 30.

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Council of Pittsburgh
Tangible Aid
Helps individuals and families with one-time needs and tangible assistance.
Assistance may include help with rent, utilities, prescriptions, and other needs.

Also provides vouchers for clothing, household items, and furniture for use at Saint Vincent de Paul thrift stores.

Sponsors a food pantry in Butler that serves over 500 families every month. Food bank members can expect to receive vegetables, fruit, meat, dairy products, and non-perishable items.

In addition, more than 20 Society Conferences host food pantries and many others provide some form of food assistance.

Provides 5 vouchers worth $10.00 each to purchase fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables from an approved Farmers Market.

Union, Snyder County seniors age 60 and older (or turn 60 by 12/31/23) with a gross household income at or below $26.973 for single individual, $36,482 for a 2-person household, $45,991 for a 3-person household, $55,500 for a 4-person household, $65.009 for a 5-person household, $74,518 for a 6-person household, $84.027 for a 7-person household, and $93.536 for a 8-person household. Hours: Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:00pm. Applications must be received by September 20, 2023. Vouchers can not be used before June 1st, 2023 or after November 30, 2023.

Provides vouchers that can be redeemed for fresh fruits and vegetables grown in Pennsylvania. Each eligible recipient receives vouchers to redeem at qualified farmers’ markets or roadside stands.

Provides food vouchers worth $24 for fresh, nutritious, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs from approved farmers' markets.

Eligibility: Qualified county senior residents. Seniors living in a nursing home, personal care home, or any residential facility where meals are provided are not eligible to receive vouchers.
Hours: YCAAA Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Program is available only in the summer months, on a first-come, first-served basis.
