  • Tenant-Based Rental Assistance: offers broad choice of housing type and location allowing eligible families to conduct their own housing search and choose where they want to live. Housing assistance is portable and families may relocate to another state, city, suburb, village, small town, or rural area where a voucher program is administered and continue to receive rental assistance.

  • Project-Based Rental Assistance: Assistance is tied to the specific rental unit. For a rental unit to be considered, the owner must submit a written proposal and have demonstrated a commitment to upgrading, maintaining, and leasing their rental properties to low-income families.
  • Home Ownership Option: Participants in either the tenant-based or project-based rental assistance programs who are employed for at least two years, or are elderly or disabled, are tenants in good standing, have attended home buyer education and are approved for a mortgage may use their housing assistance towards a mortgage payment.
